Tauranga is one of New Zealand’s main centres for business, international trade, culture, fashion and horticultural science. However, when most people think of Tauranga, it’s miles of golden sand beaches and a lifestyle destination unparalleled by most cities in New Zealand that they think of.

The council has big plans for New Zealand’s fastest growing city, which is already making the city’s reemergence into being a fantastic location to live, work and play. Here’s a brief overview of what’s going on in Tauranga.

The CBD Blueprint 

Led by Priority One, Tauranga’s CBD Blueprint showcases the exponential growth in development that’s expected to take place in Tauranga’s CBD from 2022 to 2030. With 20 projects in the pipeline and a total investment value of $1.5 billion, these projects are laying the foundation for further development opportunities around the CBD. This is the first time in recent years we’ve seen investment of this magnitude in our city which is promoting the reinstatement of Tauranga being the hub for commercial, civic and culture in the Bay of Plenty.

Tauranga Waterfront

Recently announced we have more upgrades happening along the waterfront, with the council announcing a railway underpass and boardwalk which will increase usability and ease of access from the city.

The council has also given a green light for the development of a world-class marine research and education facility, located at Marine Park in Sulphur Point.
